Business Intelligence and Power BI, Built on Numbers People Trust

One Definition per Metric. One Version of the Report. No Rival Spreadsheet.

Most reporting problems are not dashboard problems. Two teams define revenue differently, the numbers disagree in the meeting, and everyone goes back to their own spreadsheet. RCV World builds business intelligence and Power BI on an agreed semantic model first, so a metric means one thing across the business, and the dashboard is the version people act on.

What Business Intelligence and Power BI Covers

Business intelligence and Power BI cover the path from source systems to a decision: data source assessment, modeling, and the semantic layer where metrics are defined once, dashboard and report design, DAX development and performance tuning, governance and row-level security, workspace and deployment management, and the adoption work that decides whether anyone uses what gets built. RCV World works inside your Microsoft Fabric or Power BI tenant under your licenses, alongside your data and finance teams, rather than around them, with a named technical owner, a written metric dictionary, and sign-off from the business owners whose numbers are on the page – scoping from a first-governed dashboard to a full reporting estate with certified datasets.

Technologies We Work With

Our engineering expertise spans the platforms, frameworks, and protocols enterprises are actually standardizing on right now.

Smarter Systems.
Faster Decisions.

We build with the same models and protocols now standard in production agentic AI, not last year’s chatbot stack. Multi-agent orchestration and governance are part of the build, not an afterthought.

Our Business Intelligence and Power BI Services

Seven business intelligence and Power BI workstreams that turn scattered reporting into numbers the business argues from, not about.

Data source assessment and readiness

A review of the systems the reports will draw from: data quality, refresh windows, ownership, and the gaps that will otherwise surface as wrong numbers in front of an executive. Where source data cannot support the questions being asked, that is said plainly before dashboard work starts.

Semantic modeling and the metric dictionary

Star schema modeling and a semantic layer where each measure is defined once, signed off by the business owner, and reused everywhere. The metric dictionary that comes out of it is what stops the meeting where finance and operations present different revenue figures from the same system.

Power BI dashboard and report development

Reports are designed around the decisions they support rather than every available field, with layouts that are easy to read on a phone before a meeting. Each report states its refresh time and data source on the page, so nobody presents yesterday's numbers as current.

DAX development and performance tuning

Measures written for correctness first and speed second, with time intelligence, allocations, and complex business rules implemented in DAX rather than pushed back into spreadsheets. Slow reports are profiled and fixed at the model level, because a dashboard that takes a minute to load stops being opened.

Governance, security, and certified datasets

Row-level security so each person sees only their region, client, or cost center; workspace structure with clear development and production separation; deployment pipelines; and certified datasets that indicate which model is approved. Governance is what keeps a reporting estate from sprawling into hundreds of near-duplicate files.

Migration and platform consolidation

Migration from legacy reporting tools, Excel-based reporting packs, or an unmanaged Power BI estate that grew without structure. Existing reports are inventoried and rationalized against actual usage, since most estates carry reports nobody has opened in a year.

Enablement and self-service adoption

Business intelligence and Power BI only pay off once people use them. Training for report builders and consumers, documented standards, and a support model that lets your team extend the estate without a request queue. Adoption is measured by usage data rather than assumed based on a launch email, and low-use reports are revisited or retired.

The RCV Delivery Model™

One Disciplined Framework. Every Engagement.

01

Diagnose

RCV World reviews the source systems, the existing reporting estate, and the decisions the business is trying to make before designing a model: the step most vendors skip on the way to a signed order.

02

Design & Capability Match

The semantic model, metric definitions, security rules, workspace structure, and acceptance criteria get signed off with your business owners before a single report is built.

03

Mobilize & Deliver

Two-week increments with working reports reviewed against real data at the close of each, backed by the model documentation, testing, and deployment pipelines a governed estate needs, beyond what a dashboard file carries.

04

Govern & Optimize

Governance isn’t a status meeting. It’s executive steering, a live risk register, quality gates, and value tracking on every engagement.

05

Transition & Scale

Knowledge transfer, enablement for your report builders, and a plan to extend the estate or hand it back in-house, once it is proven in production.

One Framework, Three Shapes.

Every engagement runs on the RCV World Delivery Model™ underneath. The shape your business intelligence and Power BI engagement takes depends on the problem, not a package RCV World defaults to.

Model Best Fit When What You Get Buyer Proof Artifact

RCV Outcome Delivery Pods

Reporting has to prove measurable value, such as decisions moved onto governed numbers and adoption among the teams that need it
KPI framing, a product pod, delivery analytics, value reviews, and release telemetry
Product KPI scorecard and release-health dashboard

RCV Platform Accelerator

Several departments or business units need one semantic model, workspace standard, and report template set built once and reused
Platform diagnostic, foundation sprint, golden paths, onboarding, and adoption telemetry
Platform catalog, adoption metrics, golden-path demo

RCV Governance Assurance Model

Reported figures feed regulated, audited, or board reporting, where every number must be traceable to the source.
Governance handbook, cadence map, RAID log, quality gates, architecture controls, transition pack
Real dashboard pack, escalation matrix, sample exit/transfer pack

Who this is for

Reporting projects rarely fail on visuals. They fail because nobody agreed on what a metric means, or because the source data could never answer the question in the first place.

A good fit if… Probably not a fit if…
Teams present different numbers for the same metric, and nobody can say which is right

The source data is scattered or unreliable and needs pipelines first; see Data Engineering Services

Reporting lives in spreadsheets that one person maintains, and everyone depends on

The reporting gap is really a process gap that automation would close; see Enterprise Automation

A Power BI estate has grown without governance into near-duplicate reports

The numbers are stuck inside an ERP or CRM that needs to be integrated first; see CRM Integration Services

You want your own team building reports afterward, not raising tickets

The model and standards exist, and you need Power BI developers on the team; see Hire Power BI Developers

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to what enterprise and fast-scaling buyers ask most.

Because the metric was never defined in one place, each report author writes their own logic for revenue, active customers, or on-time delivery, and small differences in filters, dates, or exclusions produced defensible figures that are not identical. Dashboards built on top of that inherit the problem, making it visible. The fix is a semantic layer in which each measure is defined once, signed off by the business owner accountable for it, and reused across every report. That work is unglamorous, and it is the part that decides whether anyone trusts the output.

Not always. Where sources are few, clean, and small enough to refresh reliably, Power BI can connect directly and deliver value in weeks. A warehouse becomes necessary when data volumes grow beyond what can be refreshed comfortably, when history must be preserved beyond what source systems retain, when several systems must be joined and conformed, or when the same data feeds more than just reporting. The assessment says which situation you are in rather than defaulting to the larger build. Where a warehouse is needed, Data Engineering Services covers it, and reporting work is sequenced behind it rather than built twice.

Power BI consulting is usually scoped to the platform: modeling, DAX, reports, workspaces, and performance inside the Microsoft stack. Business intelligence services address the broader question of how the organization gets from data to decisions, including metric definitions, source readiness, governance, and adoption, regardless of which tool displays the data. In practice, the second decides whether the first is worth doing, since a technically excellent report built on an undefined metric still gets argued with. RCV World scopes both together and will say during the assessment whether your constraint is the data rather than the dashboard.

Yes, and that is usually the better route. The assessment inventories existing reports and datasets, checks actual usage, and identifies which models are worth certifying, which reports are duplicates, and which nobody has opened in a year. From there, most estates need consolidation onto a governed set of shared datasets rather than a rebuild, with new development following the standard. A full rebuild is recommended only when the underlying model cannot support the metric definitions agreed by the business. Your existing work stays yours either way, since everything lives in your tenant.

Through row-level security defined in the model rather than by publishing separate copies of a report. Rules map each user or group to the rows they are permitted to see, whether that is a region, a client portfolio, a cost center, or their own team, and the same report then serves everyone with the data filtered to them. Access is managed through your identity provider, so joiner and leaver changes apply automatically. Security rules are tested with real accounts before release because the failure mode here is someone seeing figures they should not see and discovering it late.

Cost depends on the number and state of source systems, whether the semantic model exists, how many reports are in scope, the security and governance requirements, and whether migration from legacy tools is involved. A first governed dashboard over one clean source is a smaller engagement than consolidating a sprawling estate across several business units with row-level security and certified datasets. A fixed-scope build with agreed metrics is quoted as a fixed price; an ongoing reporting team is priced in the scoping proposal. Power BI and Fabric licensing are managed by Microsoft and modeled separately. The fastest route to a real number is a scoping call.

A first business intelligence and Power BI dashboard, based on an accessible source, typically lands 4 to 8 weeks after the assessment, with working versions reviewed well before then. Larger estates roll out in waves, with the first wave chosen for a business area where the metrics are least contested, so the model proves itself before tackling harder definitions. The schedule driver rarely reports to the building. It is agreeing on metric definitions and getting source data into a usable state, which is why both are sequenced first. Timelines are set in the scoping proposal, with those dependencies named rather than quoted as a single number.

You do. Everything is built in your Power BI or Microsoft Fabric tenant under your licenses, and the semantic models, reports, DAX, deployment pipelines, and metric dictionary are yours from the start. Nothing is stored in an RCV World workspace and later migrated. The metric dictionary and model documentation are treated as deliverables rather than internal notes because they enable your own team or any other partner to extend the estate afterward. Enablement is built into the engagement for the same reason, and access is provisioned through your identity provider and revoked on your schedule.

Bring the Two Reports That Disagree

Book a scoping call with an RCV World engineer, not a salesperson. Bring the two reports that show different numbers for the same thing, a list of your source systems, and the decision the business is trying to make. The call ends with a plain view of whether your constraint is the metric definitions, the source data, or the reporting layer, and what the first governed dashboard would take.
