MDR Security

MDR SecurityThat Stops the Threat, Not Just Flags It

Dwell Time Measured. Threat Hunting Standard. Containment Pre-Approved.

Detection without response only shortens the time before someone has to wake up and act. MDR security from RCV World puts analysts on your EDR and XDR telemetry around the clock, hunts for what the rules never caught, and isolates a compromised host or account within pre-approved playbooks. At the same time, your team is still being notified.

What MDR Security Covers

MDR security covers managed detection and response across endpoints, identities, cloud workloads, and network telemetry: EDR and XDR deployment and tuning, 24×7 detection and investigation, proactive threat hunting, containment inside pre-approved playbooks, digital forensics and incident response, and reporting measured on dwell time rather than alert counts. The distinction from monitoring alone is authority: analysts are permitted to act, isolating a host, suspending an account, or blocking an indicator, within boundaries your security leadership sets in writing. RCV World operates within your EDR and identity tooling under your licenses, so telemetry, detections, and investigation records remain in your tenant. Every engagement has a named response lead, written severity definitions, and an escalation path that your leadership signs off on.

Technologies We Work With

Our engineering expertise spans the platforms, frameworks, and protocols enterprises are actually standardizing on right now.

Smarter Systems.
Faster Decisions.

We build with the same models and protocols now standard in production agentic AI, not last year’s chatbot stack. Multi-agent orchestration and governance are part of the build, not an afterthought.

Our MDR Security Services

Seven functions that separate managed detection and response from alert forwarding.

EDR and XDR deployment and tuning

MDR security starts at the agent. Rollout, policy configuration, and detection tuning run across endpoints, servers, and cloud workloads, extended to identity and email telemetry where XDR coverage applies. Platforms operated include Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, CrowdStrike Falcon, and SentinelOne [VERIFY: tooling bench]. Coverage gaps, such as unmanaged devices, are reported rather than quietly excluded.

24/7 detection and investigation

Analysts on shift are investigating every detection with endpoint, identity, and network context attached, establishing what was executed, what it touched, and whether it spread. Escalations arrive as an investigation summary with a recommended action, not a forwarded alert for your team to interpret at 3 a.m.

Proactive threat hunting

Scheduled hunts across your telemetry for behavior no rule has flagged: living-off-the-land techniques, credential misuse, anomalous lateral movement, and persistence mechanisms. Hunts are hypothesis-driven and documented, and anything found becomes a new detection, so the same technique is automatically caught next time.

Containment and response actions

This is what separates MDR security from monitoring. Pre-approved response actions are executed the moment a threat is confirmed: isolating a host from the network, suspending or forcing reauthentication on an account, killing a process, or blocking an indicator across the estate. Each action, its trigger, and its authority are agreed in writing beforehand and logged when used, so response is fast without being unilateral.

Digital forensics and incident response

When an incident is declared, evidence is preserved before remediation touches it, the timeline is reconstructed from endpoint and identity artifacts, and the root cause is established rather than assumed. Findings are documented to a standard that insurers, regulators, and legal counsel can work from.

Dwell time and response measurement.

Mean time to detect, mean time to respond, and dwell time are measured per incident and reported monthly against agreed targets, with every miss listed. Dwell time is the metric that determines how severe an incident becomes, so MDR security is judged by it rather than by how many alerts were processed.

Detection engineering and threat intelligence

Detection content written and maintained for your environment, mapped to MITRE ATT&CK, so coverage is visible on a matrix rather than assumed. Threat intelligence on campaigns targeting your sector is matched against your telemetry to generate detections and hunts.

The RCV Delivery Model™

One Disciplined Framework. Every Engagement.

01

Diagnose

RCV World reviews your endpoint and identity estate, existing EDR coverage and configuration, detection gaps, and incident history before committing to a response plan: the step most providers skip on the way to a contract.

02

Design & Capability Match

Severity definitions, response time targets, the exact containment actions analysts may take without asking, escalation contacts, and the authority boundary get signed off with your security leadership before an analyst works a live detection.

03

Mobilize & Deliver

Agent deployment, detection tuning, playbook build, and a tuning period where false positives are cut down before response targets start counting, beyond what an EDR license carries.

04

Govern & Optimize

Governance isn’t a status meeting. It’s executive steering, a live risk register, quality gates, and value tracking on every engagement.

05

Transition & Scale

Knowledge transfer, operational hypercare, and a plan for extending coverage to new business units or moving response in-house, once it is proven in production.

One Framework, Three Shapes.

Every engagement runs on the RCV World Delivery Model™ underneath. The shape your managed detection and response engagement takes depends on the problem, not a package RCV World defaults to.

Who This Is For

The question with MDR is authority, not visibility. Most teams can see the alert. What they lack is someone permitted to act on it at 3 a.m.

A good fit if... A better RCV World route if…
You run EDR, but nobody investigates or acts on its detections outside business hours

You need analysts working a SIEM queue across all log sources, not endpoint response; see SOC-as-a-Service

Ransomware or account takeover is the risk that keeps leadership awake

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to what product and engineering leaders ask most.

EDR is a tool: it generates detections and waits for someone to act. SOC-as-a-Service puts analysts on your SIEM queue to triage and escalate across all log sources, with your team taking the action. MDR security provides the authority to act, so analysts can contain the threat at the endpoint or identity layer within pre-approved playbooks while you are notified. The practical test when comparing providers is simple: ask whether they can isolate a host at 3 a.m. without waiting for a callback, and what happens if no one answers. Many organizations run both, with SOC-as-a-Service covering breadth and MDR covering depth at the endpoint level.

Only the ones you approve in writing during Design & Capability Match, and nothing beyond them. Typical pre-approved actions are isolating a host from the network while leaving remote analyst access, suspending an account or forcing reauthentication, killing a malicious process, and blocking a file hash or domain across the estate. Actions with wider business impact, such as taking a production server offline or disabling a shared service account, always require your named contact. Every action taken is logged with the trigger, the analyst, and the reason. Some clients start with a narrow list and widen it after seeing the first months of judgment calls.

Dwell time is measured from the earliest evidence of compromise in your telemetry to the point at which the threat is contained, established during the investigation rather than estimated from the first alert. It is reported per incident, alongside mean time to detect and mean time to respond, with each figure set against the targets agreed in the contract. Honest reporting means counting from the earliest artifact found, even when it predates detection, since measuring from the alerting the number. Targets are specific to your environment and coverage, and no credible provider quotes a dwell time figure before assessing your estate.

No, where the platform you run is one that the analysts operate. Supported platforms include Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, CrowdStrike Falcon, and SentinelOne, and the service operates within your tenant under your licenses. The Diagnose phase reviews your current coverage and configuration, since most estates have real gaps: unmanaged devices, servers excluded from rollout, or policies left in audit mode that detect but do not block. Where a platform change is genuinely needed, the reasons are documented, the migration effort is named, and the new tooling is licensed to you rather than held by RCV World.

Containment happens first. Affected hosts are isolated within pre-approved playbooks, compromised accounts are suspended, and the spread is stopped before analysis continues, because every minute of dwell time widens the blast radius. Your named contact is engaged within the agreed response time, based on what is known so far. From there, the incident response process runs: preserve evidence, establish entry point and scope, eradicate persistence, support recovery from verified backups, and document a timeline to a standard that insurers and regulators accept. Decisions with business impact stay with your leadership. Every incident closes with a review that lists the root cause and the dated remediation actions.

Cost depends on endpoint and identity counts, whether servers and cloud workloads are in scope, the coverage window, the breadth of pre-approved response actions, and log retention requirements. A few hundred endpoints on an existing, well-configured EDR is a smaller program than a mixed estate with servers, OT-adjacent systems, and long regulatory retention periods. Pricing scales with those factors rather than a flat per-endpoint rate card, and is set in the scoping proposal. EDR platform licensing is handled by your vendor and modeled separately. The fastest route to a real number is a scoping call, or the cost calculator for a directional estimate.

MDR security onboarding typically takes 3 to 6 weeks, depending on agent deployment coverage and the extent of detection tuning required by the current configuration. The sequence is fixed: estate and coverage review, severity and containment authority sign-off, tooling access, agent and policy deployment, detection tuning, playbook build, then a tuning period where analysts work detections alongside your team before response targets start counting. Containment authority is usually activated at the end of that period rather than on day one, so the first live isolation is not the first time the playbook has been used.

Quiet months are reported, not assumed. Monthly reporting covers: detections investigated and their outcomes; threat hunts run and what they found or ruled out; detection coverage against MITRE ATT&CK and how it changed; agent and telemetry health; containment actions taken; and measured dwell time for any incident. Purple team exercises and controlled detection tests can be scheduled to prove the response path works end-to-end rather than waiting for a real incident. Because everything runs within your own tooling, your team can independently verify any figure. Exit terms are set in the contract, and no exit fee applies to leaving.

Ask What Happens at 3 a.m.

Book an MDR security scoping call with an RCV World security engineer, not a salesperson. Bring your EDR platform and coverage numbers, your last incident, and the containment actions you would be willing to pre-approve. The call ends with a plain view of your endpoint coverage gaps and which shape fits: managed detection and response on your current tooling, SOC coverage across all log sources, or a full managed security program.
